3D Rendering - Animation - Experiential Design
Project Objective
Design and visualize a pedestrian bridge for Laguna Canyon that integrates a strong experiential component into the architectural concept.
To demonstrate my proposal, I produced an animated walkthrough of the bridge model and a 360° VR render, highlighting how users move through, interact with, and view the road and bridge.
Saftey
Providing a pedestrian bridge that separates traffic from the residents and visitors reduces traffic congestion and facilitates a safer crossing.
Community
The bridge encourages walking rather than driving as it allows for easier crossing, bringing people together without the barrier of driving on the narrow canyon road.
Icon
The bridge expresses two distinct identities: one side honors Laguna Beach’s artist colony roots and the natural character of the canyon, while the other reflects the city’s modern, evolving future. Together, they meet above Highway 133 as a single, unified crossing.
Using photogrammetry and a screen recording I reconstructed the canyon terrain and neighboring buildings. I then created the topographic model effect by posterizing the height of the terrain and slicing each into a cross section to give the appearance of an architectural model.
